Title: Instructional Designer

 

Reports to:

 

Design & Development Department Manager

Supervises:

 

There are no direct reports to this position

Purpose:

 

 

 

Assist in the development of Instructor-Led and Computer-Based Training programs by developing performance-based objectives, conducting needs assessments, determining and developing instructional activities, producing training materials, and evaluating training designs.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Conducts training needs assessment with client to determine training needs and delivery alternatives.
  • Assists with the design of training programs. This involves:
  • Drafting performance based objectives
  • Developing course outlines and storyboards
  • Scripting instructional activities and events
  • Producing Instructor & Participant Materials
  • Researching content topics
  • Evaluating training results.
  • Internal and external communications: Responsible for communication of project(s) to team, clients and CCFL staff.
  • Meets on occasion with clients to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Works within a system to evaluate and maintain customer satisfaction; communicates results to Project Manager, and customer on occasion.
  • Prepares written reports as needed for internal and external customers.

 

  • Performs other duties as assigned, or as needed to proactively meet the goals of the organization.

 

Job Specifications:

Education, Skills & Experience
  • Equivalent of Master’s degree in instructional design.
  • Familiarity with corporate environment is a plus.

  • Communications:

Presentation skills: poise in addressing groups.

Ability to assess training needs, make recommendations based on past performance and/or program evaluations.
Ability to develop new methods to improve efficiency and delivery of service.

  • Organization:

Ability to work through systematic Instructional Design Process.
Ability to prioritize, balancing customer wants within organizational and contractual goals.

  • Computer literacy, PC software:

Authoring Tools (Currently: Toolbook & Authorware),  HTML Editors
Spreadsheet, Word Processing, Data Base, Desktop Publishing, e-mail, Internet. (Currently: MSWord, Excel, Access, Power Point)

 

Other:

  • Air travel to client locations and occasional overnight travel.
  • Willingness to work in excess of 40 hours/week to meet customer requirements
