BARNARD COLLEGE: STUDENT CENTER
Sign material selection and design was integral to the overall program that visually supported the architect’s scheme of transparency and interplay of shadow and light. The main floor consists of a curved polymer resin panel that was to contain donor names and the Diana Center Title. Initially, ¾-inch dimensional cutout pin-letters were specified. CMI was able to convince the client team that metallic vinyl profile-cut letters for the donors would not only be just as visually appropriate, logistically and production-wise, but a better solution in the long run, when donors were updated. The Diana Center name was put in dimensional waterjet profile cut letters to maintain the gravitas of the donor area.
